Update: Now closed, our Auction raised over $9,000 to fund Vamos Outdoors' swim programs! THANK YOU TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED!
Reduce waste! Recycle Nuu-Muu Product! Support Swim Classes for ALL!
Nuu-Muu is thrilled to partner with Vamos Outdoors Project to offer a first-ever fundraising auction to benefit the Vamos Outdoors Swimming program. Our team came to this idea with the intention of auctioning our personal collections of hard-to-find dresses to help raise funds for this important work. Then we realized many of you might also want to participate in a giant dress swap. Together, we’ll help give kids life-long skills to safely enjoy water. Yes, yes and yes!!
How it works:
Scour your closet and send us any Nuu-Muu products that need a happy new home by December 15, 2022. We’ll clean them and photograph them and get them ready to go. In January 2023, we'll hold an an online auction event offering folks an opportunity to bid on your donation from anywhere in the world. 100% of auction sales will directly benefit the Vamos swimming program!
Have Nuu-Muu Product to Donate?
We are accepting product donations starting NOW! Simply complete THIS FORM and send it (along with your product donation) to the address listed.
We’ll accept Nuu-Muu branded products in any size. Anything with a Nuu-Muu label counts! For example: Ruu-Muu dresses, Nuu-Muu dresses, Scoop dresses, GoBe dresses, Mini-Muus, Nuu-Tees, Prants, or Huugs.

I want to support Vamos but I don’t have Nuu-Muu product to donate!
Don’t worry! You’ll have a chance to bid on and buy products in the auction. 100% of auction sales will directly benefit Vamos's swim program. You can also donate directly to Vamos here.
Is My Donation Tax Deductible?
Nope. We're trying to keep things simple. But you get to feel good about helping kids be safer in the water.
Why Support Vamos’s Swim Program?
Children of color are at a significantly higher risk to drown, as 64% of Black children and 45% of Hispanic children cannot swim. Vamos Outdoors is working to lower this risk by providing free swim lessons – including supervision, transportation, food, and all necessary equipment - to primarily Latine and multilingual youth. Swimming is Vamos's most requested program from parents and it is currently unfunded. Nuu-Muu wants to fix that!
“We want the youth we serve to draw upon transformative experiences as they grow to love their bodies, their culture, their communities, and their landscapes.”

PROGRAM COMPLETE - No longer accepting applications
Since May of 2020, our Nuu-Muu team has dedicated time and energy to learning about racism and our own privilege, and we’re understanding more about how this shows up in our communities. As part of this work, we're launching a mentorship program to connect aspiring BIPOC high school girls/entrepreneurs with women entrepreneurs in Whatcom County.
Introducing: Business Friends for Success (BFFs)
Vision: The Whatcom Business Friends For Success (BFFs) program will engage the next generation of entrepreneurial dreamers through fun and meaningful connection with Whatcom womxn business leaders.
Program goals:
The mentorship program will feature:
Who:
Mentors are entrepreneurs/business womxn excited to inspire the next generation and connect locally to others who share the same interests.
Mentees are high school students and/or young adults who identify as female and are interested in partnering with a mentor to learn about business and generate or refine a business idea or project.
Community members will be invited to attend monthly topical deep dives. All are welcome to attend and priority will be given to the BFF cohort during the question and answer portion of the meeting.
Why:
The BFFs program was born from Nuu-Muu’s growing awareness of and desire to combat the inequities and systemic racism that exist within the business sector and beyond. We welcome and encourage anyone interested to apply. The BFFs program will prioritize the participation of people from marginalized communities.
Where:
BFFs will happen virtually over Zoom until further notice. Accepting applications November 1-30, 2021 for Spring 2022 cohort. Program dates are January 15, 2022 – June 15, 2022.

What would the world feel like if, instead of fight, flight, or freeze, we were able to operate from a body that is grounded and settled? In his book My Grandmother’s Hands, Resmaa Menakem opens our bodies and minds to how racism shows up in our physical selves and impacts our lives. Many of us at Nuu-Muu are ready to explore this book together and we invite you to read along with us.This virtual reading group will include discussions, somatic practices and meditation. We will go slow, focus on a few concepts and explore just some of the tools offered in the book. We’ll come away with a greater understanding of our physical and mental responses to racism and conversations about race.
Our group will be led by white-identifying women and all are welcome to join our conversation. Nuu-Muu's Owner Ashley Fullenwider will facilitate our journey. A committed life-long learner who teaches yoga and meditation, Ashley has benefited greatly from the social justice teachers at Off The Mat, Into the World and has taken Resmaa Menakem’s course on Racialized Trauma from the Cultural Somatics Institute.
Participation is free. Any donations can be made directly to Resmaa Menakem to support his work.
We look forward to growing our capacity for difficult conversations and strengthening our ability to engage in anti-racism work. You can find the book here. Our reading group has started, but there's still time to join! Email nikki@nuu-muu.com if you'd like to hop in.
