Love Is Love

Hello there, loves.

Ashley here to give a shout out to June rainbows. We’ve gone and made a rainbow dress because 1) we want to show our solidarity, promote and otherwise lift up the LGBTQ Pride Celebration that is June, and 2) we truly believe this gorgeous, colorful, happy rainbow dress should exist, be love, and be loved.

We are proud of our rainbow and what it stands for, but even as I write this post, I am very aware that another kind of discrimination is alive and well in America. As I grapple with how difficult it is to put this all into words, we are in the middle of an opportunity to confront racism against people of color.

Right now, we’ve seen more videos, more facts, more examples of systemic oppression of all kinds. And here’s the thing about Pride Month - it marks the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in NYC, when oppression of the LGBTQ community resulted in people in the streets resisting when enough became enough.

Sound familiar?

As Nuu-Muu, we’re adding our voices and a dress to the party that is the June LGBTQ Pride Celebration. As individuals and as a company, we have a voice to add to the chorus: a voice of hope for how far we’ve come, but also a voice that acknowledges how far we have left to go.

One of the most tangible values of our Nuu-Muu community is that we support each other. We have good days and terrible days. We have joys and (sometimes giant) disappointments. We celebrate and commiserate and see straight beyond the thing – whatever that thing is – right to each other’s souls. On our Team Nuu-Muu Facebook page we hear over and over: I see your joy. I hear your pain. I’m sorry that happened. I believe in you. I want to help. We connect: no matter location, background, race, class, gender or any other barrier that prevents us from being souls experiencing our human condition. We are in this life together and we lift all boats with our love, no matter anything else. Love is love.

For those of you leading the charge for equality, I acknowledge your courage, vision and path. The world needs your fierce hearts and bravery to stand up to fear and hold up the mirror. You deserve freedom from fear and oppression, freedom to live your life out loud in any color with society and people by your side.

For those of you (maybe like me?) who understand the mission and are a bit rocky or playing catch-up on the implementation – let’s do this. And just in case I’ve got a reader who isn’t onboard with embracing equality for all with all the love and respect that each soul deserves, we’re going to lead by example and send love, acceptance and kindness to you, too.

So – let’s circle back. We’ve gone and made a rainbow dress for everyone. Because enough is enough. Love is love and there’s infinite love to share with everyone. Happy June!

I love this company and love your support for EVERYONE. May we all be ready to stand up against racism, inequality, and hate whenever we are confronted with it or see it. YES in a dress!
