One note before we compare styles: Nuu-Muu is both the name of our company and the name of one of our dress styles. We know that can be a little confusing! When we refer to the Nuu-Muu style, we mean our original pocket-free sleeveless dress.

Nuu-Muu's 5 dress styles all have colorful limited-run prints and a versatile “do it all in one dress” spirit — but the neckline, sleeves, skirt length, fabric feel, and pocket details vary by style.

Nuu-Muu is our original sleeveless dress style. It has a keyhole neckline and does not have a pocket.

Ruu-Muu is the same style and fit as the Nuu-Muu, with one difference: the Ruu-Muu has our discreet split-stash back pocket. If you like the Nuu-Muu shape but want a pocket for small essentials like a key, card, snack, small phone — or even a pickleball — choose Ruu-Muu.

Scoop is a sleeveless pocketed dress with a scoop neckline. Choose Scoop if you prefer a scoop neckline and want the discreet split-stash back pocket.

Go-Be is our lifestyle dress with a V-neck, three-quarter sleeves, and a slightly longer skirt than the sleeveless styles. It does not have a pocket and fits differently from the sleeveless Nuu-Muu, Ruu-Muu, and Scoop styles. The Go-Be fabric can also feel a little warmer than the sleeveless dress fabric, making it a nice option when you want more coverage or an easy everyday dress.

Mini-Muu is the children’s version of the Nuu-Muu style— same pocket-free idea, just in smaller kid-friendly sizing.

None of our dresses have built-in bras or shorts, so you can layer them your own way with your favorite bra, shorts, leggings, or swimwear depending on the activity.

Yes! Our Ruu-Muu and Scoop styles include a discreet back pocket that’s perfect for keys, cards, or a snack (No judgment!). If you’re looking for a pocket-free dress, go for the Nuu-Muu or GoBe styles.

Yes. Nuu-Muu dresses are machine washable and easy to care for.

For best results, machine wash cold and hang dry. The fabric dries quickly, resists wrinkles, and is highly stain resistant, which is one of the reasons Nuu-Muus are so easy to wear for everyday life, workouts, travel, and adventures.

They are also easy to hand-wash and quick to hang dry, making them great to pack for backpacking trips, international travel, or any trip where you want to bring fewer pieces, avoid the laundromat, and re-wear favorites.

We do not recommend bleach, fabric softener, or high heat, as those can be hard on performance fabrics and may shorten the life of the dress.

To help prevent pilling, try to avoid repeated abrasion from rough or grabby surfaces such as Velcro, cement, rough backpack straps, or cat claws. Like many soft performance fabrics, Nuu-Muu fabric can pill if it is rubbed repeatedly against abrasive materials.

Yes — wear your Nuu-Muu dress in whatever way you are most comfortable.

Nuu-Muu dresses are designed to be versatile enough for active lifestyles and a wide variety of real female bodies. Their shorter length is deliberate: it allows for maximum movement, creates an easy, flattering drape over the body, and helps keep the dress out of your way while you move.

That shorter length also makes it easier to be athletic in a dress. It helps keep fabric from getting caught near a bike chain, makes it easier to mount and ride a bike, stays out of the way when you’re reaching for the winning tennis or pickleball shot, and won’t interfere with your kick if you wear it swimming or snorkeling.

Depending on your height, comfort level, or planned activity, you may like wearing shorts, bike shorts, leggings, tights, or swimwear underneath for a little extra coverage. Many customers wear their Nuu-Muus solo for everyday life, errands, hot weather, beach days, travel, or casual wear — and layer underneath when they want more coverage or support for movement.

The absence of built-in bras and shorts is also a deliberate design choice. It helps our dresses fit more body types comfortably and gives you more flexibility to layer your own way throughout the year. Wear your favorite sports bra for a workout, a swimsuit underneath for water days, leggings and a light sweater for fall, or wool tights and an insulated coat for winter.

The best way to wear a Nuu-Muu is the way that makes you feel comfortable, confident, and ready for whatever your day holds.
